Lace Crown Tutorial

Ok, so I know I said I would have this post up a few days ago, but I've been slacking a bit.  I have been seeing these cute lace crowns all over Pinterest and thought they were so fun!  So my crafty sister Rebecca and me got together and made these in an afternoon.  They turned out awesome!

Here is our tutorial on these sweet little crowns fit for a little Prince or Princess!

First up is supplies! You'll need:

Spool of Lace
Fabric Stiffener (ours came from Hobby Lobby)
Scissors
Sheet of Paper for Form
Packing Tape
Hot Glue Gun
Metallic Craft Paint
(Optional: Jewels, Glitter, and anything fun you would like to embellish with!)

First, you will want to make your form by: Cutting a piece of paper lengthwise, tape it together, measure paper around child's head for size, wrap masking tape all around form so the fabric stiffener won't stick to the paper, and then measure lace around form for size and cut to length.

Now, you dip lace into the fabric stiffener until totally saturated, then squeegee all of the excess off.  Then wrap lace around form over the packing tape.

Lastly, you hot glue the ends of lace together, let crown fully dry, then peel form off.

Now you can put a layer of metallic paint on and embellish with glitter, jewels, anything you can think of!

This is what we ended up with!

Aren't they fun?!  They can be great photo-props and perfect for the little girl that loves to dress up!

If you don't want to take the time to make these yourself, you can always custom order them from my Sister's boutique Chubby Cheek Boutique.  Otherwise, they were a fun way to spend an afternoon!

Snips and Snails, and Puppy Dog Tails

I love my handsome boys.

I never knew if I could be a good Mom to boys.

I was raised by a single Mom with 3 sisters.  I didn't know anything about these mud puddle jumping, super hero flying, rambunctious little creatures.  Little boys seemed like such a mystery to me.  I was already Mom to a delicate little girl, and I knew girls.  Girls seemed easy to me.  So when I found out baby number two was anything but...
I was terrified.

Luckily, being a Mom to now two little boys, it is one of the most rewarding and fun things I could have ever imagined.  My little boys have taught me so much and I don't know how I got along without them.  Seeing through the eyes of a little boy has given me much perspective on noticing all the small wondrous things all around us and being spontaneous.  Boys are definitely not only made of snips and snails, and puppy dog tails.

These awesome pictures were taken by my sister Rebecca at My Sunshine Photography and Rebecca in Wonderland..  This photo shoot wasn't only about pictures of my boys though.  We spent a day of crafting these sweet crowns for our Prince's and Princess's and I can't wait to show you how to make them!  So stay tuned and I will be back tomorrow with that tutorial!
